Curtis Brown has over 15 years in both non-profit and corporate fiscal management and accounting. Mr. C. Brown began his business administration and marketing career while attending Morgan State University, a Historically Black College, on an academic scholarship.

Through several months of implementing a marketing plan formulated in his junior year business plan thesis, Mr. C. Brown, as director of marketing--successfully turned the university’s once fiscally challenged radio station, WEAA-FM and school newspaper, MSU Spokesman--into financially successful business units under the university’s. The experience gained through this work motivated him to form his first company--a marketing company--Unique Images. This company specialized in graphic designs and advertising sales for college newspapers at historically black schools and earned over a million dollars in annual sales after its first 18 months in operation.

Also while in college, Mr. C. Brown expanded the membership of a then local Christian, social and community services organization, Alpha Nu Omega Fraternity, Inc. The organization had modest enrollment at first but and after serving as chapter president, then as national president--post-graduation--Mr. C. Brown and his staff, through marketing skills he honed in on at MSU, membership increased to several Historically Black Colleges. Mr. C. Brown presided over the organization for thirteen years post graduation as its national president. He currently holds the position of national president emeritus. During Mr. C. Brown’s presidency he also spearheaded the formation of the United Council of Christian Fraternities and Sororities, Inc. (UCCFS). He currently serves as the Chairman and CEO of UCCFS, overseeing the organization aimed at facilitating the combined growth and operations of its (now) five different faith-based fraternities and sororities.

For several years Mr. C. Brown worked in banking, as a branch manager, and eventually promoted to assistant vice-president and sales manager of one of the largest regional retail banks in Maryland. Forever an entrepreneur, Mr. C. Brown later formed a limited partnership partner consulting and accounting firm, Workman and Brown Church Financial Services, LLP (WBCFS). The company targets faith-based organizations--provides fiscal management, institutes GAAP and financial accountability procedures and ensures proper internal controls. Mr. C. Brown, as managing partner, recognized that many churches provided educational and social services on a “shoe string” budget--at best--and often lacked the organizational capacity to compete for corporate and government grants to enhance service delivery. WBCFS service line includes; payroll services, accounting, tax preparation, budget preparation and monitoring for government-funded resources for services.

He operated a subdivision of his family’s contracting (construction) business for a period of time that the Lord called him to “be about his father’s business”. Having exhausted that assignment, Curtis has taken on the challenge of being about his spiritual father’s business. He now works for his church (Kingdom Worship Center) as the Chief Financial Officer and Business Manager overseeing total operations of the church’s business entities.

Curtis and his wife of 18 years, Kenya N. Brown, reside in Owings Mills, MD where we are raising our three children, Jannay, Destiny, and Justus. Together Curtis and Kenya have been at the helm of Alpha Nu Omega, Inc. since 1995 – serving on the National Executive Board and working to ensure that the vision of God is not lost.

Mr. C. Brown graduated with honors with a B.S. in Marketing from the School of Business at Morgan State University. He also received the Student Achievement Award in Marketing for earning the highest GPA in his discipline. He also earned a M.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Phoenix.
